This is the embodiment of a Nokia smartphone, just leaked with a remarkably low-cost configuration

Although it is no longer Nokia, this smartphone from HMD is considered the embodiment of Nokia smartphones because of its similar characteristics to the previous Nokia C series.

A new smartphone from HMD has appeared on Geekbench, revealing initial images of what appears to be the HMD Pulse 2 Pro. This device appears with the code name “Pearl” and can be considered an incarnation of the previous Nokia smartphone also produced by HMD.

Information on Geekbench identifies the motherboard as “ums9230_6h10”. At first glance, this suggests it is Unisoc’s T606 or T615 platform, but the CPU configuration suggests otherwise. The chip has two performance cores clocked at 1.82GHz and six energy-saving cores clocked at 1.61GHz, which doesn’t match the T606 series, where all cores operate at the same frequency.

Instead, this configuration is almost identical to the Unisoc T7250. This is consistent with previously leaked information about Pulse 2 Pro. That information refers to the T615 chip, but it now appears to be a misprint, possibly due to duplicate internal codenames.

Information from Geekbench shows that the phone has 4GB of RAM and is running Android 15. If Android 16 requires a higher minimum amount of RAM, the Pulse 2 Pro may need to rely on Android Go for long-term software support.

According to a recent report, more phones with only 4GB of RAM could launch next year as memory prices continue to rise. The 2024 Pulse Pro is offered in 4GB, 6GB and 8GB versions, so it remains to be seen whether the Pulse 2 Pro will still have an 8GB option, especially since it is positioned as an entry-level phone.

Overall, the test results show a familiar formula for HMD’s low-cost product line. Pulse 2 Pro seems to focus on basic functions rather than strong performance.

HMD has yet to confirm the device, but with performance test results and leaks from retailers increasing, an official announcement is likely to be made soon.

Currently, Nokia and HMD Global are still extending their agreement to produce Nokia-branded phones, but mainly with basic brick phones, so it is very difficult for Nokia smartphones to re-export.
